Chandrakant Kulkarni, a known name in the Marathi theatre and film circuit as a director, will play a full-fledged role in the Swapnil Joshi-starrer Mogra Phulala (2019).
The makers have revealed that Kulkarni will play Joshi's uncle in the movie. The two characters are close and share a friendly bond. But that’s not all. His character is also a dance director or a choreographer.
Speaking about his casting, Kulkarni said in an official statement, “I have always been known as a director. But whenever any writer or director becomes sure that Chandrakant Kulkarni fits well in a character, only then I act in it. The same happened with Mogra Phulala. The film’s writer Sachin Mote was absolutely sure that I would fit well in this role. Hence, I did the film.”
He has previously acted in films like Banganwadi (1995) and Pipani (2012). Kulkarni forayed into direction with the pathbreaking Bindhast (1999). He has also directed the much acclaimed Tukaram (2012), the biopic on Saint Tukaram.
The latest poster of Mogra Phulala shared by the makers shows a friendly bond between Joshi and Kulkarni as the two are seated on the Joshi's scooter. The film sees veteran actress Neena Kulkarni play Joshi’s mother.
Mogra Phulala is about a man who finds love unconventionally late in his life as he has been busy with other responsibilities. The film also stars Sai Deodhar, Sandeep Pathak, Anand Ingle and others.
Directed by Shrabani Deodhar, the film will be out on 14 June.
