The teaser of Raja Chanda’s upcoming film Kidnap promises an intense dramatic plot for a thriller, featuring Dev Adhikari, Rukmini Maitra and Chandan Sen in the lead.

The teaser begins with the declaration that the state has topped the charts in human trafficking this year. It offers glimpses of a girl, aged 21, who has gone missing; of her helpless father (Sen) and of the photojournalist (Maitra), who turns into a pawn for the mastermind of human trafficking racket.

The teaser states that the entire Southeast Asia is engaged in the racket. While the undaunted journalist in captivity spends her days in misery, Adhikari’s character promises a teary-eyed father of rescuing his daughter from the clutches of the criminals.

Action, suspense and horror in the eyes of the captive journalist generate intrigue in the trailer. Shot in real and exotic locations, the film offers a sleek and smart look.

While Adhikari will be seen in the avatar of a heroic rescuer after long, Maitra’s character has many shades, as she is seen in both a glamorous and brave avatar, apart from also suffering at the hands of the evil characters.

Savvy Gupta’s background score inspired by the rock genre also seems to have lifted the energy of film directed by Chanda, manifold.

Kidnap is slated for release on Eid this year, 5 June.
