Box office: Romeo Akbar Walter collects an average Rs29.50 crore nett in its first week

After enjoying back to back success with Parmanu and Satyameva Jayate last year, John Abraham has not been able to repeat that with Romeo Akbar Walter (2019). The espionage thriller had an average first week, collecting Rs29.50 crore nett, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.
Romeo Akbar Walter had a decent opening weekend of Rs21 crore nett, but it could only add Rs8.5 crore nett in the weekdays.
Made at an estimated budget of Rs34 crore, the Viacom18 Motion Pictures film was released on 2,000 screens in India. As per trade sources, the producers Vanesa Walia, Gary Grewal and Kyta Productions have sold the combined satellite and digital rights to Colors for Rs24 crore. The music rights were sold to T-Series for Rs1.5 crore.
Directed by Robbie Grewal, Romeo Akbar Walter is based on a true story of a spy who operated in Pakistan in the lead up to the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
Hollywood release Shazam! also failed at the India box office. Distributed by Warner Brothers, Shazam! was released on 1,050 screens in India. After a week, it has only made Rs16.60 crore nett in its India business.
Holdover release Kesari is eyeing Rs150 crore nett. The Akshay Kumar film made Rs11 crore nett in week three. The Dharma Productions film has so far made Rs143.8 crore nett in its domestic business.
Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Badla made Rs2.25 crore nett in its fifth week. The mystery thriller, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, has so far made Rs85.02 crore nett in India.
