Filmmaker Ridham Janve's The Gold-Laden Sheep & The Sacred Mountain continues its festival journey with yet another honour. The film, made in the Gaddi language of Himachal Pradesh, won the FIPRESCI Prize, International Critics Prize, at the Hong Kong International Film Festival yesterday.
The film was awarded the prize for assembling "a narrative that blends nature and spirituality into an irresistible and immersive flow". Janve's feature debut had its world premiere at the 20th Mumbai Film Festival last year. It won the Silver Gateway award in the India Gold section which it shared with Aditya Vikram Sengupta's Jonaki (2018).

HKIFF43 announced winners of its Firebird Awards tonight at the Awards Gala held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre tonight.

Earlier this year, The Gold-Laden Sheep and the Sacred Mountain was also screened in the competition section at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR).
The 43rd edition of the festival in Hong Kong was held from 18 March to 1 April. Founded in 1976, the annual international festival is one of Asia’s oldest.
