Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, just days after the release of his film Lakshmi’s NTR (2019), has announced his next project – which will be a biopic on the life of Sasikala, a confidante to late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
Varma took to his Twitter page and wrote: “Happy to announce. Coming very soon.”
The film has been titled Sasikala with the tagline ‘Love is Dangerously Political’. Varma went on to share a poster featuring Sasikala and Jayalalithaa.
According to the poster, the film will be a story of relationship set against merciless men, prisons and Manargudi gangs.
Varma still hasn’t announced who will play Sasikala in his film, which is rumoured to go on the floors later this year.
In 2017, Varma had expressed his interest to make a biopic on the life of Sasikala.
He had said Sasikala biopic will be "unimaginably shocking".
Meanwhile, Lakshmi’s NTR has opened to decent reports in cinema. With most critics calling it a film that was exclusively made to sanitize the image of Lakshmi Parvathy, it needlessly turns Chandrababu Naidu into a villain.
Varma was also supposed to direct NTR biopic starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. However, he opted out of the project due to creative differences.
