Actress Alia Bhatt is set to match steps with Madhuri Dixit Nene in an elaborate Kathak dance number for Abhishek Varman's upcoming, Kalank. The actress reportedly underwent training under famed Kathak maestro, Pandit Birju Maharaj, for a few days recently.
Varman's film is set in the years before India's Independence, and is likely to have a dance routine that fits in with the period. A report in the DNA, a daily. quoted a source as saying, "She needed to learn the dance form as she has never done something like this before."
Incidentally, Pandit Birju Maharaj also taught Dixit Nene the dance form of Kathak. He also choreographed Dixit Nene in 'Kaahe Chhede' from Devdas (2002) and 'Jagaave Saari Raina' from Dedh Ishqiya (2014).
The last time the senior actress was involved in an elaborate elegant dance duet with another leading actress was in Devdas for the song 'Dola Re'. The very popular number saw Dixit Nene paired with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
