Actress Richa Chadha is now combining her social responsibility as seriously as her acting. The actress plans to take her upcoming film, Love Sonia, to the villages to help generate awareness about the issue of sex trafficking. Directed by Tabrez Noorani, the film deals with the story of a young girl from a small village in India who finds herself trapped in this vicious cycle of trafficking.

Noorani has previously produced the Oscar winning films like Slumdog Millionaire (2008), Life Of Pi (2012) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). Love Sonia also features Mrunal Thakur, Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Demi Moore, Adil Hussain and Sai Tamhankar, among others.

Since the film deals with the current topic of sex trafficking, Chadha is seeking to screen the film in villages to help generate more awareness on the subject. She said, "Cinema still lacks access to a vast audience and Love Sonia and it’s theme matters. It’s time girls should be aware from a young age of a dark reality that exists. An education is a must for girls from their high school and colleges. I thus upon release, plan on showing the film to girls in smaller towns and conducting screenings to help create a wider awareness and begin a conversation."

The actress is currently preparing for her role as the Malayalam B-grade actress Shakeela in a biopic directed by Indrajit Lankesh. Chadha will also be seen in the second season of her popular web-series, Inside Edge 2 soon.

Love Sonia is set to be released in theatres on 14 September.
