Superstar Rajinikanth's next film is titled Petta

Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film with director Karthik Subbaraj has been titled Petta.

The first motion poster of the film, which features Rajinikanth sporting a beard and making an entry into a church with a candlestand in hand, was also released simultaneously.

The film, for which Rajinikanth has been shooting over the past couple of months, has a big star cast that includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Simran and Vijay Sethupathi.

Trisha plays the female lead in this film, which has music by Anirudh and cinematography by Thiru. The film is being produced by Sun Pictures, a firm owned by Kalanithi Maran.

Sun Pictures released the title and the motion poster of the film on its twitter handle this evening. Until this point, the film was being referred to as Thalaiver 165.

Within a few minutes of the first look and the title being released, the motion poster received a phenomenal 350,000 views on YouTube.
