Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital earlier today after he developed a chest infection.

The official twitter account of Dilip Kumar, which is managed by his wife Saira Banu, posted the information on social media.

Two hours later, Faisal Farooqui, a close friend of the family, tweeted that this was a routine visit owing to age-related ailments. Dilip Kumar is 95.

Farooqui's tweet suggested that the veteran was rushed to hospital after he 'complained of breathlessness'. However, it also suggested that there is no need for worry as the actor has been 'routinely visiting the hospital for overall health and care'.

A source close to the veteran said, “He has contracted pneumonia again, but there is nothing to worry. At his age, it is a common ailment. I am told he is doing fine now. He is usually taken care of by [cardiologist] Dr Nitin Gokhale at Lilavati hospital. Dilip saheb will stay in the hospital tonight and if he recovers fast, he should be discharged tomorrow or on Friday.”

The actor was admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit back in August 2017 for a kidney problem. Again, in November last year, he suffered a mild bout of pneumonia.
