The official teaser of Arindam Sil’s Byomkesh Gowtro, starring Abir Chatterjee, Arjun Chakraborty and Anjan Dutt is out. Earlier this year, Chatterjee was seen in a double role as the aged Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi and his grandson Satyaki in Debaloy Bhattacharya’s Bidaay Byomkesh.
Sil is back with his tale on Byomkesh after two years since Byomkesh Parbo in 2016. Byomkesh Gowtro is inspired from Sharadindu Bandopadhyay’s Rakter Daag. The film also stars Rahul Banerjee as Ajit, Sohini Sarkar as Satyabati, besides Priyanka Sarkar, Bibriti Chatterjee and Anindita Bose as well.
The teaser begins with Satyakam (Arjun Chakraborty), the debonair Casanova, declaring that he is not born to be a family man but to destroy them. He also adds, addressing the Satyanweshi, “Death is the only thing that’s certain in our lives Mr Bakshi.” Following a few intriguing glimpses of Dutt’s character and Satyakam in Mussoorie. In a prophetic approach Satyakam asks Bakshi to investigate, if he is to die any time soon.
The teaser then offers a montage of Satyakam engaging with various women, while in the background a conversation between Bakshi and Satyakam is heard.
The appearance and the characterization of Chakraborty in a never-before-seen avatar and the view of his conflicts and involvement with women raise a lot of anticipation. Also, Dutt’s presence in Mussorie appears to be carrying a lot of mysteries.
Byomkesh Gowtro is slated to be released on 12 October.
