Sharat Katariya's Sui Dhaaga: Made In India, starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma, opened to a decent number yesterday (28 September), with Rs8.25 crore, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.
The film is backed by a good amount of hype and positive reviews.
Sui Dhaaga review: Slightly staid but heartwarming story of underdog couple
The only hurdle for Sui Dhaaga is that it is made at a cost of Rs50 crore. This is reasonably high for a film which is not an out-and-out mass entertainer. Hence, it will to perform better during the weekend and the coming week, in order to succeed at the box office.
Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha, starring Sanya Malhotra and Radhika Madan, also released on Friday and opened with a dull Rs75-80 lakh.
The film is made at a cost of around Rs20 crore. Looks like Pataakha has a steep mountain to climb to reach anywhere close to the production cost.
