The Jagran Film Festival is an initiative by the Jagran Prakashan Group, which publishes the Dainik Jagran newspaper and Mumbai's Mid-Day tabloid, among other publications, to create a culture of cinema appreciation and set up a platform to bring great content to audiences across the country.
In its ninth edition this year, the festival, which travels across India, has received a good response from filmmakers internationally with a record number of entries, over 3,000.
Last year, the festival had travelled to 16 cities and reached an audience of more than 50,000. This year it has covered a greater distance, starting from New Delhi and travelling through Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Dehradun, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bhopal, Indore, Gorakhpur, Agra, Ludhiana, Hisar, Meerut and Raipur, before culminating in Mumbai. This year, the festival takes place in Mumbai from 27-30 September.
The festival screens films across genres from around the globe. There are also discussions with the cast and crew of select films.
