Actor Karthi, who had to cancel the shooting of his next film Dev in Kullu-Manali in Himachal Pradesh on account of inclement weather, has returned to Chennai safely.

"The team planned to shoot certain sequences of our film, Dev, featuring Rakul Preet and me in the lead, in Kullu and Manali," Karthi said. "I had gone to Delhi by flight and chose to proceed by car from there via Chandigarh.

"However, the entire place was flooded. In some places, we could not see the road at all due to landslides. We had to travel a distance of 400km to reach Kullu-Manali. However, it took us eight hours to complete 100km.

"When I reached a place called Mandi near Bilaspur, I was advised not to proceed further as entire stretches had been washed away. I chose to stay in that village. Power supply was cut and it was pouring all the while."

Stating that all 140 members of the film's crew, which had gone ahead to make arrangements for the shooting, were safe, Karthi said they were being brought back to Chennai in batches.

It may be recalled that the team was stuck in Kullu-Manali without food after the place was hit by flash floods and landslides. Producer S Lakshman Kumar chose to call off the schedule, seeing the gravity of the situation.

The action-adventure film, featuring Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh, is being directed by Rajath Ravishankar. The film's music will be composed by Harris Jayaraj.
