Neil Nitin Mukesh will be playing the role of a police officer for the first time in his 11-year career in Manish Vatsalya’s Dussehra. The film also stars Tina Desai [of Table No. 21 fame], Govind Namdeo along with the director himself.

The first poster of the film features an injured yet determined Neil in a police uniform. His character is that of an encounter specialist.

Speaking about the film, an official statement from the makers said, “Dussehra is a political thriller based on a true story of crime and politics. The film evolves from the backdrop of a politically destabilized state and places which symbolize politician mafia network, heinous crimes, cunning politicians, and reckless criminals. The film is a story of a genuine cop who gets stuck in adverse circumstances.”

Neil and his wife Rukmini became parents to a baby girl on 20 September. His last film Ishqeria was released on Friday. The love story saw him paired opposite Richa Chadha. The film bombed at the box office.

This is Vatsalya’s second film as director after Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal (2012), which starred Ravi Kishen in the lead.

This year the festival of Dussehra falls on 19 October. But the film is slated to be released on 26 October.
