Actor Vijay has won the Best International Actor trophy at the International Achievement and Recognition Awards (IARA) for his performance in Mersal (2017).
Vijay had played three roles in the film, which also starred Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nithya Menon, Kajal Aggarwal and SJ Surya. The film was directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by Thenandal Studios.
It may be recalled that Mersal had emerged a superhit despite being mired in controversies for dialogues criticising the government's digital India campaign, demonetisation and the GST.
