After being screened at various film festivals around the country, it is time for Parambrata Chatterjee’s Shonar Pahar to tour internationally. The film has been selected to be screened at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival and the Bay Area South Asian Film Festival, San Francisco.

“This is Bay Area’s inaugural film festival and I am extremely delighted that I am being travelling with Shonar Pahar there. As I have always maintained, it is a very special film. Also, I have not travelled with any of my previous directorial films to international film festivals. So I am very happy and looking forward to the experiences and their initiatives. Also, I am hoping to see many known faces there,” said the actor-turned-director.

Chatterjee’s film, starring Tanuja, Jisshu Sengupta, Srijato Bandopadhhyay, Arunima Ghosh, Soumitra Chatterjee and himself, deals with the nuanced layers of equation between parents and children through the eye of an unusual friendship between a 70-year-old lady and eight-year-old orphaned child.

The film got its first international call at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival. “This is one of the bigger film festivals in North America, so, I am very very honoured and humbled that they have selected Shonar Pahar to screen,” added Chatterjee. The film has already been screened at the Indian International Film Festival of Boston. Soon, it will be screened at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival as well.

Shonar Pahar will be screened at the Bay Area South Asian Film Festival 2018 on 23 September at 3:45pm at Mountain View Centre For Performing Arts.
