The last film at Bay Area South Asian Film Festival (BASAFF), to be held from 21 to 23 September, is the optimistic T For Taj Mahal, a look at social entrepreneurship in a small fictional village in north India, set in the shadow of India’s most famous monument to eternal love.

With a story by writer Ashish Aryan, the film explores an ‘Eat and Teach’ model set up by a man, Bansi (Subrat Datta), who takes it upon himself to educate his fellow villagers, especially the children.

Transforming a dhaba into a makeshift school, he sets about his goal. T For Taj Mahal, with a strong message on the power of education, also features Bidita Bag, Ali Faulkner, Pitobash and Manoj Pahwa. The film had a world premiere at the Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival this June and will be screened in competition at BASAFF.

Speaking to us about the film's screening, director Kireet Khurana said, “Apart from great reviews and an overwhelming response, we’ve been blessed with a great festival run for T for Taj Mahal. I am glad that the film has been honoured as the closing film for BASAFF. Our principal cast Ali Faulkner will grace the event and represent the film on the cast and crew’s behalf. We wish BASAFF all the very best for the festival!”

T For Taj Mahal will be screened at the Bay Area South Asian Film Festival 2018 on 23 September at 8:45pm at Mountain View Centre For Performing Arts.
