Pashi preview: Mysterious tale of trappings set in idyllic hills of Himachal 


The title of the film refers to the pahari word for bird trap. The film uses the bird trap as a metaphor for the fleeting desire and struggle of the character Ashish.

A young man is told the secret to trapping birds in the ancient technique of Pashi, while mystery develops in between fleeting glimpses, and stolen chances. The film by Siddharth Chauhan has already caught the eye of some prominent festivals. 

In 2017, Pashi travelled to the Rhode Island International Film Festival, considered by many to be the platform for the Academy awards. The film was also in-competition in the short film category at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles in 2018.

Chauhan has already won the Satyajit Ray Short Film Award at the London Internationall Film Festival in 2017 for his debut short, Papa. 

The film will compete with six other shorts, including Waterbaby, Doitto, Majaal Hai, Everything Is Fine, 7 Rounds and Soundproof. 

Pashi will be screened at the Bay Area South Asian Film Festival 2018 on 23 September at 7pm at Mountain View Centre For Performing Arts.
