John Abraham played an anti-corruption crusader in Milap Milan Zaveri’s Satyameva Jayate (2018), which was released during India’s Independence Day this year. Despite being released alongside Akshay Kumar’s Gold (2018), the film attained success at the box office.
John is now back as the man in action in Nikkhil Advani’s next, which is based on the Batla House Encounter of 2008.
The first poster of the film gives an idea that the film will be an out-and-out commercial saga. It has a dark picture of John with his face hardly visible. His picture is splashed with keywords related to the operation.
The Batla House Encounter took place on 19 September 2008 in which two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists were killed in an encounter while two others were arrested.
John will be playing the role of the former assistant commissioner of police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav. He was the first one to reach Batla House on the day of the encounter. Currently, the deputy commissioner of police, Yadav is the winner of nine President’s Gallantry Awards.
This is the second time Advani will be directing John after Salaam-e-Ishq (2007). He was one of the producers of Satyameva Jayate.
The film will be released on Independence Day 2019.
