Bigg Boss 12 had a surpise for its audiences in its very first episode. Contestannts veteran singer Anup Jalota, 65, and Jasleen Matharu, 28, confessed about being in a relationship for over three years. The families of both and the audiences were equally surprised.

While sources suggest that the relationship is a farce to facilitate the reality tv shows TRP, Matharu's father Kesar categorically ruled out any possibility of accepting this relationship.

"I had no clue about this. We were under the impression that this is a guru-shishya jodi. They will sing bhajans on the show. She never told me about this. When they made the announcement, my entire family couldn't believe their eyes. We all got very angry. Within ten minutes, I started getting calls from friends. My wife [who was watching the show] got up and went inside. My son was stunned too. It was very unexpected," Kesar told AajTak, a news channel.

Kesar stated that he knows Jalota personally and it was he who introduced the singer to his family a few years ago. He wanted his daughter to improve her singing under the guidance of Jalota. The family claims that they did not have an inkling of the relationship.

Upon being asked if he approve the relationship, Kesar said, "No. Never. It's not possible. If she asks me, I will never give my approval to this relationship. I will not give my blessings to them, and I would rather keep my distance from this. But I will definitely ask my daughter why she did it. If she admits to her relationship with him, I will maintain my distance from them.”

Jalota has been divorced twice, while his third wife passed away in 2014.
