Add Helicopter Eela (2018) to the list of films that have 'borrowed' older songs and remixed them for their soundtracks. Recently, Satyamev Jayate (2018) used 'Dilbar' from Sirf Tum (1999), upcoming horror film Lupt (2018) will use ‘Bhoot Hoon Main’ from Ram Gopal Varma’s Bhoot (2003) and Rohit Shetty's Simmba (2018) will have Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan dance to 'Aankh Mare' from Tere Mere Sapne (1996).

Producer Ajay Devgn is using a popular song from his hit film, Vijaypath (1994), in his upcoming production Helicopter Eela. 'Ruk Ruk Ruk', composed by Anu Malik and sung by Alisha Chinai, was initially picturized on Tabu. Actress Kajol will recreate the song onscreen in Helicopter Eela.

In the film, directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Kajol plays a single mother who aspired to become a singer when she was young. The song will be remixed for the film by singer Raghav Sachar who debuted with Yash Raj Films' Kabul Express (2006). Singer Palomi Ghosh will sing this new rendition.

Sachar told The Times of India, a daily, that the new version was composed within a day. "I've retained the melody just like it was in the original by Anu Malik. We have updated the song with new rap portions that make it more conversational. Since Eela's character is very expressive, it adds a personal touch to the song," he said.

Helicopter Eela, which also stars Riddhi Sen as Kajol's son, is due to be released on 12 October.
