Director Vishal Devrukhkar’s Boyz (2017) became a surprise hit last year and now the makers have come up with its sequel, titled Boyz 2.
The sequel carries forward the cast from the original, including Parth Bhalerao, Sumant Shinde and Pratik Lad. While the trio were school students in Boyz, Boyz 2 has them in college and ready to have fun in bolder ways as they transition into adulthood.
As was apparent in the teaser, the three will be seen constantly eyeing their beautiful teacher (played Shubhangi Tambale).
In the trailer, their happy-go-lucky lives takes a serious turn when they unwittingly become enemies to some of the seniors at college.
The trailer makes it clear that Boyz 2 ventures into the territory few have dared in Marathi cinema — adult comedy. Although the film seems to be a fun ride, some of the situations aren’t as funny as they were meant to be.
Bhalerao, Shinde and Lad are in good form in the sequel too. However, actor Girish Kulkarni steals the show despite a brief appearance.
Boyz 2 is set to released on 5 October.
