Pahlaj Nihalani, known for his controversial term as the chief of the Central Board of Film Certification, has now returned as a director with Rangeela Raja, starring Govinda. The actor plays a double role in the film.
The first poster of the film is out. It aims to bring back the Govinda of the 1990s – stylish, colourful and carefree. However, the image of Govinda trying to be decades younger with a number of girls weirdly herded around him is hardly an impressive sight. It is outdated, to say the least.
Rangeela Raja also stars Mishika Chourasia, Anupama Agnihotri and Digangana Suryavanshi.
Nihalani and the film was in the news last month after it was speculated that the director-producer has spent Rs3 crore on the ‘Dholi Dhol Baja' song from the film. During an exclusive chat with Cinestaan.com, Nihalani had confirmed that they have spent a lot on the song, but refrained from revealing the amount.
“Whatever is required, I always fulfil that. The song required many dancers, junior artistes, costumes and decoration. We shot for six days because Govinda plays a double role. We also had to spend on VFX as both characters dance together in the song,” he had said. The sets for the song were designed by art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai.
