Box office: Manmarziyaan opens at Rs3.25 crore; Mitron, Love Sonia register low numbers

Stree continued its impressive as it entered its third week, taking its overall total to an impressive Rs95.66 crore.

Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan has opened to a below average number at the box office. The film, starring Vicky Kaushal, Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu, earned Rs3.25 crore yesterday, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.

The film has opened better than the filmmaker’s last film Mukkabaaz (Rs81 lakh), which was also produced by Aanand L Rai.

Manmarziyaan is Kashyap’s second highest opener after Bombay Velvet (2015), which made Rs5.24 crore on its opening day. However, that film’s budget was over Rs100 crore and it turned out to be a disaster at the ticket windows.

The other two releases of the week, Nitin Kakkar’s Mitron and Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia had disastrous openings of Rs40-50 lakh and Rs25 lakh, respectively. Despite positive reviews for both the films, the audience decided to stay away.
