Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia to be released in China in October

Director Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia, that is set to hit the screens in India on 14 September, has been slated to be released in China in October. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Richa Chadha, Freida Pinto, Adil Hussain, Sai Tamhankar, Mrunal Thakur and Riya Sisodia along with Hollywood star Demi Moore.

“After watching the reactions of the audiences at the screenings in London and the strong media buzz, the distributors across China have bought the rights for theatrical release in China even before the release in India,” said an official statement from the producers.

Love Sonia is about a young girl (Mrunal Thakur) and her quest to search her sister who has been forced into flesh trade.

Noorani is, obviously, delighted by the news of the China release. “I am very thrilled that the film is opening up in China. I know that films with strong female characters, especially those that break stereotypes, are loved by audiences in China and I am happy to have a different part of the world see this brave story,” he said in an official statement.

Love Sonia is also co-produced by Academy Award winning producer David Womark of Life Of Pi (2012) fame who was also involved with G.I.Joe: The Rise Of Cobra (2009), Hulk (2003), Jurassic Park III (2001) among others.
