Actor Imran Khan has been out of action for a long time. He was last seen on the big screen in Katti Batti (2015).

Now, the nephew of superstar Aamir Khan has bagged a project with Karan Johar’s digital wing Dharma 2.0. Not as an actor, though.

Imran Khan will make his directorial debut with a short film for Dharma 2.0 titled Mission Mars.

The film, starring Prakash Belawadi, is about India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), which was inserted into orbit around the red planet on 24 September 2014.

The trailer, which was released recently, suggests that the director has treated the subject like a thriller. The background music also makes it feel like a feature film about a group on a crucial mission.

The film's cinematography and production design play a big role in giving the content a rich and modern feel. In fact, in some ways the film reminds you of Abhishek Sharma's recent film Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran (2018), about the May 1998 nuclear tests, which starred John Abraham and Diana Penty.

An actor playing prime minister Narendra Modi makes a fleeting appearance in the trailer. So fleeting, in fact, that you might miss him if you aren't alert. Watch the trailer below.
