The buzz around director Shankar's magnum opus 2.0, which features Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar, just got bigger.
Even as excited fans await the release of the film's 3D teaser tomorrow, the makers have released a poster that claims that the film's production cost is US$75 million, or about Rs540 crore at the current exchange rate.
If true, this makes 2.0 the costliest film made in India so far, surpassing Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), which had a production cost of US$67 million (about Rs480 crore).
The poster, which was shared by director Shankar on his Twitter account, reads: 'India's first 75 million dollar VFX wonder'.
Shankar went on to tweet that over 3,000 technicians from around the world had worked on the film. "One of those present when the trailer was being censored said it had surpassed what he had witnessed in Baahubali," a source from the film's production team said.
The film's release has been delayed several times already, citing the extent of VFX work required. Now, the makers have announced that it will be released finally in November.
