Actor Ayushmann Khurrana seems to be developing a knack for picking up scripts with a kicker. The trailer of his upcoming Badhaai Ho captures the quirk, hilarity and charming rustic style that have become themes of Khurrana's films.

Directed by Amit Sharma, Badhaai Ho is a film that revolves around an unplanned pregnancy and its effect on an upcoming wedding.

The trailer begins with the sight of a blushing middle-aged father (Gajraj Rao) trying to explain to his 30-year-old son (Khurrana) that he is going to have a baby brother. The hilarity of the situation is compounded by the fact that Khurrana's character is engaged to be married with a girl (Sanya Malhotra).

The trailer soon goes from one mishap to another as the old couple find themselves hiding from embarrassment, while the new ones seek to avoid the same mistake. Surekha Sikri adds another dimension as the grumpy grandmother embarrassed by her son's actions, while Khurrana mopes around wondering at his parents' irresponsibility.

The trailer has the right mix of comic punches, quirky situations, and engrossing actors to make the cut. The film, with its earthy language, and humour, seems to be following the path of Vicky Donor (2012) and Bareilly ki Barfi (2017) making this one to watch out for. While Amit Sharma's last directorial was the action packed Tevar (2015), this comedy seems a far cry from anything violent.

Khurrana looks to have picked up the knack of playing the flustered common man stuck in uncommon situations. Sanya Malhotra looks quite able to play the only character who is supportive of this sudden 'mishap'.

With AndhaDhun coming up soon, Khurrana has a diverse list of projects lined up. Malhotra will also be seen in Patakha, which will be released on 28 September.

Badhaai Ho will be released on 19 October.
