According to producer Prernaa Arora, unavailability of dates forced Sheirgill to turn down the project.

First, actor Randeep Hooda was linked to the upcoming film Radha Kyun Gori Main Kyun Kaala, but director Prem Soni denied any such development. Then, it was reported that Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi (2018) actor Jimmy Sheirgill has been roped in for the film, that will see singer Iulia Vantur play the lead actress in a Hindi for the first time. In another twist, Sheirgill, too, is no longer a part of the project.

Soni had earlier tweeted clarifying that Sheirgill has not been signed, and that the producers — Studio Five Elements — will soon announce the film's cast.

“I would like 2 put an end to speculation we have not signed Jimmy Shergill for our film #Radhakyongorimainkyonkaala official statement will be soon given by the production house announcing our cast. We look forward 2 this journey with love n blessings from everyone [sic],” Soni tweeted on 8 September.

One of the film's producers, Prernaa Arora, in an interview with us, has confirmed the same, adding that Rampal has agreed to come on board. "We are in talks with Jimmy sir, but unfortunately but we couldn’t work out on dates.  I have been in talks with Arjun Rampal for various things. We are doing something together, and I thought that it a very interesting and strong role. So, why don’t we look at Arjun Rampal.  He was busy with Paltan (2018), he took out time out and heard the script. He found it to be very interesting, and powerful subject and role. Arjun loved it and he has come onto this film on merit.”

Radha Kyun Gori Main Kyun Kaala is the story of Julia (Iulia), a Polish girl, who is a Krishna devout who had a tough childhood but finds solace in the teachings of Bhagvad Gita. Julia travels to Mathura where she falls in love with Babul Chaubey, a character that will now be played by Rampal.

Rampal will feature in another Five Studio Elements project, a horror film, that is being shot in Poland. The actor was last seen in Paltan (2018) that released last Friday (7 September).
