Aamir Khan intervenes to save life of National Award-winning recordist Shajith Koyeri

While his television talk show Satyameva Jayate might not be in session anymore, actor-producer Aamir Khan continues to play the social activist in real life as well. He recently intervened to help provide timely medical assistance to National Award winning sound-recordist Shajith Koyeri. 

Koyeri, who won the National Award for Best Audiograhy for Omkara (2009) and worked with Khan on Dangal (2015), was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital after suffering a stroke on Thursday (6 September) morning. However, the family complained that over 12 hours later, Koyeri had still not been looked at by a doctor. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid, the family alleged that the patient was not wheeled into MRI till 5.30 pm on Thursday. 

Paying a visit to the family on Friday (7 September) night, Khan decided to shift Koyeri to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for treatment. He even called up the Ambani family, and ensured that Koyeri was given immediate attention. 

However, the report also said that the administration of the Lilavati Hospital had denied allegations of delay in treatment as false. The doctors stated that treatment for Koyeri's stroke and subsequent heart attack was started immediately. 

However, the family remains thankful to Khan for his timely intervention. The report quoted Koyeri's sister as saying, "Had he not been there, who knows how bad it could have got?"
