There was a decent amount of buzz around the release of Amar Kaushik's Stree, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Further, the film has largely received positive reviews. Stree opened on 31 August with a decent Rs6.50-6.75 crore at the domestic box office, according to Boxofficeindia.com.
The film's earnings are expected to make a good jump during the weekend, Saturday [1 September) and Sunday (2 September), owing to the positive reviews.
As per trade sources, the film is made at an estimated budget of Rs25 crore. If it ends the first weekend with a good number, the film has a strong chance of being a success at the box office.
Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, which also released on 31 August has fared poorly. The film, starring Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol, managed only Rs1.50-1.75 crore on its opening day. This is the third film in the Yamla Pagla Deewana series.
The opening number of the third instalment is way lower than the second one, which made Rs6.36 crore.
The film is made at an estimated budget of Rs30 crore. With largely negative reviews following the release, much cannot be expected from the Navaniat Singh film.
