Prernaa Arora, Arjun Kapoor team up with Om Prakash Bhatt, Kashish Khan to form Studio Five Elements

Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor, founders of KriArj Entertainment, have joined hands with unheralded producers Om Prakash Bhatt [of Purple Bull Entertainment] and Kashish Khan to form a new production house Studio Five Elements. 

The studio will be involved in production, acquisitions, distribution and also cater to the digital platform. Interestingly, for the first time ever, a production house has 'God' as one of its founders. 

Commenting on the new joint venture, Arjun N Kapoor said, “Studio Five Elements is a collaboration between like minded people. We share a common passion for excellence and believe in bringing quality content to the big screen. We will continue to take ahead the kind of work we have been doing and making films we believe in".

While co-founder Prernaa Arora said, “Arjun and I are happy to collaborate with Prakash Bhatt and Kashish Khan, both of whom are first generation entrepreneurs who have a deep understanding of cinema and who believe in strong content and resource management at the core . This association is an extension of our vision”

The new production house has announced five new projects.

First is the underworld crime-drama, titled The Rise And Fall Of Bambai, featuring Sanjay Dutt. The film will be co-produced by Ahmed and Shaira Khan’s Paperdoll Entertainment

The second is Iulia Vantur’s maiden film, be directed by Ishkq In Paris (2013) director Prem Soni. This film, titled as Radhu Kyu Gori Main Kyun Kaala, is said to be based on the 2017 case of sexual exploitation of a foreign tourist at the hands of a nationalised bank employee. If the film’s subject is based on the 2017 Mathura rape case, this title comes as a surprise.

Speaking to Cinestaan.com, Soni didn’t reveal the story, but merely said that the title suited the story perfectly. “Once you see the film, you will realise why it is such an apt title,” he said. During the announcement, Soni did say that his film was based in Mathura. The third film, to be helmed by Soni, is called Ganit. No other details have been shared about this film. 

The fourth film in the pipeline, titled The Tall Man, is a bilingual that marks Amitabh Bachchan’s debut in Tamil cinema. The film will also see Tamil director SJ Surya makes his Hindi film debut as an actor. The film, to be helmed by T Tamilvaanan, was announced in Chennai on Thursday (30 August). Surya flew down to Mumbai for the launch of Studio Five Elements.

The fifth film will be a remake of Raj Khosla’s Woh Kaun Thi? (1964) to be directed by Kanishk Verma.

Kashish Khan, one of the co-founders hopes they are able to revolutionize filmmaking in Hindi cinema. “At Studio Five Elements, we hope to revolutionize the way films are made and offer a variety of content to Indian audiences.We are raring to go," she said in the statement.

Om Prakash Bhatt, founder of Purple Bull Entertainment, added, “I believe in creating and co-creating and therefore in the context of current opportunities this alliance and coming together with Prernaa-Arjun and Kashish will open doors for all of us to scale up. The vision for the group is clear. We believe in the philosophy of delivering message that is imperative for the nation and be that change agent exploiting the platform of films".
