Andhadhun and Loveyatri, the two new Hindi releases this week, had quite a buzz going for them but unfortunately, the two films haven't had a good start at the box office.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, dark comedy Andhadhun starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte and Tabu, could only fetch around Rs2.5 crore nett on its opening day, as reported by BoxofficeIndia.com.

Made at an estimated budget of Rs25 crore, Andhadhun has been released across 800 screens in India. Khurrana’s last film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) had also made around Rs2.6 crore nett on its opening day. However, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan had 1,300 screens.

Meanwhile, Loveyatri, produced by Salman Khan and starring Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain, opened to around Rs2 crore nett. Made at an estimated budget of Rs25 crore, Loveyatri has been released in around 800 screens in India.

Loveyatri review: A dispassionate, lethargic love in the times of Navratri

Speaking about Andhadhun and Loveyatri, trade analyst Atul Mohan said, “The two films had a good buzz around them, the promotions were good too. Maybe the films didn’t live up to audience expectations on the opening day. The review is good for Andhadhun, and Loveyatri too has got some appreciation. So, the two films will hope to do better over the weekend.”

While Andhadhun and Loveyatri have had a dull beggining at the box office, Hollywood film Venom, the latest one in the Marvel franchise, was the preferred choice of Indian audiences. The Tom Hardy-starrer film made Rs4 crore nett on its opening day. The film has been released across 1,000 screens in India.
