There were a few revelations when Ayushmann Khurrana appeared on Neha Dhupia's #NoFilterNeha.
The one big revelation reported earlier was how Rani Mukerji bagged Hichki (2018) ahead of the Badhaai Ho (2018) actor.
There were a few personal revelations as well. For one, Khurrana did not hesitate to admit that he has a man-crush on Ranbir Kapoor.
The other personal disclosure related to his wife Tahira Kashyap. Khurrana revealed that early in his career, she would feel very uncomfortable each time she saw him kiss a co-star on screen.
Khurrana made his debut with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor (2012). The actor was paired with Yami Gautam in his maiden film and it involved a few intimate scenes between the characters.
"I remember my first film Vicky Donor, we were holding hands, she was watching the film. When the kissing scene came, she just let go my hand,” Khurrana said.
He said his wife was aware that there was such a scene in the film as she had read about it, but she still could not remain undisturbed when she saw it on screen.
Naturally, it spoilt a special moment for Khurrana. And this problem persisted for the next couple of years.
“The whole of euphoria of the film's success had gone down the drain," he said. "I said this is a new problem that has stemmed in my life. She can't tolerate me kissing anybody else. It lasted a good two years. And in every film there was a kiss.”
Tahira was pregnant at the time Vicky Donor was released. Thereafter, Khurrana requested his directors to chop the kissing scenes, but they did not oblige, though they kept the kissing to the minimum. With time, however, Tahira has made peace with her husband’s liplocks on screen.
“She evolved," he said. "She would then say that if it’s not aesthetic enough, you should reshoot it. I remember I was filming for Manmarziyaan (2018). She turned up on the set. That was the day we were to shoot a kissing scene with Bhumi Pednekar. We took about 20 takes but Tahira was fine with it.”
Khurrana was surprised how Dhupia and her team figured out his first film that never got made. It was called KLPD, not Sanjay Khanduri’s Kismet Love Paisa Dilli (2012).
“It was called Kisses Love Pizza and Dosti," he said. "Thank god it didn’t take off. We went to Thailand to shoot. For the first few days, we did nothing but party. After seven days, I came back, but the rest of the cast and crew got stuck. Their visas were confiscated, for the producer had not paid the hotel's dues. They had to survive on street food for close to a month!”
