Baazaar song 'Billionaire': Yo Yo Honey Singh's bizarre, outlandish lyrics are disappointing

Perhaps the only thing going for the song is the score, the beats that play out in the second half.

Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh is back from a long stint in rehab. However, his love for wine, women and partying remains constant in the lyrics of his latest song 'Billionaire' from Baazaar.

The Nikkhil Advani film is the story of a rich man, Shakun Kothari (Saif Ali Khan). For a song titled 'Billionaire', you would expect the character to splurge money on the finer things in life. So there are Kothari and Rizwan Ahmed (Rohan Mehra) splurging on wine, as the former tries to woo Eli Avram.

There is no problem with the theme of the song. The disappointing part is the bizarre, outlandish lyrics. You have to listen to the track a few times to make sense of it.

Honey Singh has written, composed and sung the duet with Simar Kaur. With the intro itself having words like Marrakech, Italy, pizza, diplomatic passport, visa, you are left scratching your head wondering what Honey Singh was on when he wrote the lyrics. The antara lyrics are more appalling.

The bad lyrics don’t earn a single brownie point for the singers. You feel bad for Simar Kaur. She does have the requisite swag in her tone. Penning such poor lyrics, Honey Singh scores a nought for his singing too. Singhsta has been credited as the hook line singer. Perhaps it is ‘le nazara’.

Save for one odd step, the choreography has nothing appealing. Eli Avram merely serves as eye candy here.

Perhaps the only thing going for the song is the score, the beats that play out in the second half. If somehow you can manage to shut your ears to the lyrics, the rhythm in the final minute of the song has a good vibe to it.

It appears as though 'Billionaire' was shot later, as Saif Ali Khan's look in the song is for his other upcoming film The Hunter.

Baazaar will be released on 26 October. Watch the song below:
