Actor Shakti Kapoor has come under the cosh for his bizarre reaction in the case where actress Tanushree Dutta has alleged that actor Nana Patekar molested her 10 years ago. Dutta has accused Patekar of molestation, harassment, intimidation in an incident which happened during the shooting of the film Horn Ok Pleassss (2009).
On Tuesday, Kapoor stepped out to promote his upcoming film The Journey. When asked about his reaction to the ongoing Dutta versus Patekar controversy, the veteran actor offered a bizarre reply.
“Ten years ago? I don’t know anything, sir. Ten years ago, I was a small child,” said Kapoor.
When asked for his reaction earlier on the issue, Kapoor had said, "I only arrived yesterday from America. The first shock that I received was Rishi Kapoor's tweet. He’s gone to the USA [for treatment] and then the next morning I heard about his mother’s death [Krishna Kapoor]. I have been only thinking about the well being of the Kapoor family. I have no idea about this [Tanushree Dutta] case.”
For the record, Kapoor is 66 years old and 10 years ago, he was 56. Kapoor’s comment was more tongue-in-cheek and the actor was taking a leaf out of his character from Chaal Baaz (1989). Kapoor’s character Batuknath had a trademark dialogue, “Main to nanha sa pyaara sa chhota sa bachcha hu".
Unfortunately for Shakti Kapoor, his comment at the press conference yesterday comes across as insensitive.
If that wasn’t enough, there was more embarrassment in store for the veteran actor after an old article from The Hindu story pertaining to an item girl hunt that took place in 2004 came up. Shakti Kapoor was a 52-year-old man then.
The event was Item Bomb Hunt where the winner would be cast alongside Sanjay Dutt in an item song in Sanjay Gupta’s Musafir (2004). Kapoor was one of the members from the film's cast.
Kapoor is quoted in The Hindu article saying at the event, "The industry knows me as someone who always has a pretty woman in his life. My image is widely known... there isn't a better person to judge whether a woman is a bomb or not."
As per The Hindu report, Shakti Kapoor's conduct with the girls left a lot to be desired. The veteran actor is also quoted as saying, “A bomb must ooze sex. I'm looking for t*** and a**."
It may be recalled that Shakti Kapoor was one of the two actors caught in a sting operation by India TV.
Shakti Kapoor had named actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Preity Zinta as victims of the casting couch. He had later retracted his statement. Aman Verma was the other celebrity who was caught in this sting operation.
