Director Sharat Kataria’s Sui Dhaaga collected a good amount of Rs7 crore on Monday, a working day. This meant that the film had a chance of earning much more the next day on 2 October, a national holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti.

The film, starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma, earned Rs11.50 crore yesterday, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.

The grand total of Sui Dhaaga now stands at Rs55 crore. As per trade sources, the film is made at a budget of Rs50 crore. As it has easily crossed that number, it stands a good chance of being a success at the box office.

Sui Dhaaga’s collections today, a working day, will ultimately give an idea where the film will head.

This Friday will see the release of three films – Andhadhun, Loveyatri and Lupt. However, none of them are expected to have a big opening in their first weekend. This means Sui Dhaaga stands a good chance to do well in the second weekend as well.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha, the other release of this week, also saw some jump yesterday due to the national holiday. The film, starring Sanya Malhotra and Radhika Madan, made Rs1.50 crore in the day. However, its total collections stand low at only Rs6 crore right now. The film is made at a budget of Rs20 crore.
