All four songs of Network explore different genres, says director Saptaswa Basu

The music of Saptaswa Basu’s upcoming thriller Network was launched on 1 October in the presence of the film's protagonist Saswata Chatterjee, Rini Ghosh, Anindya Chatterjee and Indrajit Mazumdar. The film also stars Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Saayoni Ghosh and Darshana Banik in important roles.

The story of the film revolves around media professional Abhijit Ganguly, played by Saswata. Ganguly, has lost his fame and lives a secluded life after his daughter’s death. The twist occurs when he is diagnosed with a terminal disease and has only a year to live. He creates a team with his trusted acquaintances Raj (Indrajit Majumdar) and Shreya (Rini Ghosh) to make a new film and regain his lost fame. However, when he is betrayed by the unit members, he launches a television reality show, called Their Life, through which he avenges all those who have hurt him.

“There are four songs in the film and each of them has been composed by different composers, which has recently become a trend now. We have tried to make an assembly of different genres and the four songs will add to the variant moods of the film,” Basu commented on the film's music.

Canada based music composer Raz Dee has worked on one of the songs from the film, called 'Tokey Chhara'. “The song belongs to the genre of R&B. As we know that Rhythm and Blues first emerged in the USA in the 1930s and the genre has got a beautiful and sexy feel about it. On the other hand, Bengali is considered to be the sweetest language in the world. So, I thought why not merge these two beautiful aspects into one and hence, made the song,” said Dee.
