Rani Mukerji's Hichki hits Rs100 crore mark in China


The film has earned $14 million over the last week, making Rs102 crore so far.

The growing success of Indian films at the box office in China is not going to stop any time soon. The latest is Hichki, starring Rani Mukerji and Neeraj Kabi. The film which released in China on 12 October has managed to hit the Rs100 crore mark at the box office. 

Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, Hichki had already made $8.07 million (approximately Rs59.09 crore) by 20 October. As of the second week, the film managed to add another $14 million, which amounts to a total of Rs102 crore approximately. 

Speaking of the film, Mukerji said, "Good cinema has no language barriers and it connects with the hearts and minds of the audience. The success of Hichki in China proves just that. We knew we had made a special film but for it to get so much love and acclaim from audiences across the globe is an extremely proud and humbling moment for all of us. I congratulate my producer Maneesh Sharma and my director Siddharth P Malhotra for creating a gem of a film whose universal message of love has been melting the hearts of audiences in China now." 

Retitled Teacher With A Hiccup, the film has resonated with the Chinese audience. Mukerji even promoted the film extensively across cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou.
