Actor Irrfan Khan has been on the mend. The actor, who was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour, is reportedly expected back in the city in a couple of days to begin shooting for the upcoming sequel of his surprise 2017 hit, Hindi Medium

Khan was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in June and moved to London for treatment. The actor dropped out of several projects, including a film on gangster Sapna Didi with Deepika Padukone, helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

Over time, the actor was spotted at the Lords' stadium watching a cricket match, during a rare outing. However, he still looked frail.

In August, the actor had revealed that he had not been reading any scripts. "No, I’m completely out of reading scripts. This has become a surreal experience. My days are unpredictable. I used to think my life would be like that, but I could never practice unpredictability and spontaneity. That has happened now. I don’t plan. I go for breakfast and then I don’t have a plan. I take things as they come," he said.

However, entertainment website Bollywoodlife.com reported that the actor is set to return to the city after improvement in his health. Khan is expected to begin shooting for the sequel of Hindi Medium in December.

The sequel to the hit 2017 film will be directed by Homi Adajania, and produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films.

While the original starred Khan alongside Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, it is not known if the sequel will retain the same cast.

In a conversation with Mumbai Mirror in February, Adajania had revealed that the film will flash forward 10 years to depict the story of Khan's daughter in the film. Initial reports had speculated about Sara Ali Khan taking on the role of the grown-up daughter.

The film is expected to go on the floors in December.
