Ellipsis Entertainment to file complaint with cyber police over allegation against Soumik Sen

Over a week ago, singer Chinmayi Sripaada had tweeted a post from an anonymous individual who had accused Cheat India director Soumik Sen of sexual harassment.

Ellipsis Entertainment, co-producers of Cheat India, have now issued a statement that no complaint of harassment has been received against Sen and the company will file a complaint with the cyber police to look into the matter.

"We have not received any complaint of inappropriate behaviour by director Soumik Sen from any female member in our unit of Cheat India during the shooting," said the statement.

The production house said most of its workforce comprises women. Moreover, three of the firm's partners are women. Ellipsis Entertainment is owned by Atul Kasbekar, Tanuj Garg, Shanti Sivaram, Swati Iyer and Piya Sawhney.

“We fully support the #MeToo movement in India [but] we urge people to be wary of unsubstantiated allegations, particularly anonymous ones, which could be mischievously made with ulterior motives,” Ellipsis Entertainment added.

Ellipsis Entertainment has earlier produced films like Neerja (2016) and Tumhari Sulu (2017). Sen has earlier directed Gulaab Gang (2014).
