The teaser of the much-awaited Vijay-starrer Sarkar was released on social media and the internet on the occasion of Vijayadashami at 6 pm this evening. (The festival was celebrated in some parts of India yesterday.)
The teaser evoked phenomenal response from fans, receiving a whopping two million views within just 20 minutes of being released. And in a further three hours, it had gone beyond eight million views.
Sun Pictures, the firm producing the film, made the announcement on its Twitter page.
In the teaser, which is a minute and 33 seconds long, Vijay is described as a "corporate monster who doesn't leave any country until he destroys his competition".
The actor is seen arriving in India just to cast his vote and finds that his vote has already been cast, illegally, by somebody else.
The actor is then seen asking people to stand by and watch how things change in the course of a day. He describes himself as a "corporate criminal".
The teaser ends with Vijay telling the public, "Get ready, folks! Seek out and find the leader of your land. This is our government!"
The film's teaser drops strong hints that one of its objectives might be to promote Vijay's political ambitions.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film features Keerthy Suresh and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar as the female leads.
