Anirban Das Blah, accused of sexual harassment, allegedly tries to commit suicide

Anirban Das Blah, accused of sexual harassment by four different women in the #MeToo movement, tried to commit suicide today (19 October).

Das Blah, a co-founder of talent management agency KWAN, had to resign from the company's board earlier this week.

As per a report in The Hindu newspaper, the Vashi traffic police rescued the executive who was allegedly trying to jump off the old Thane creek bridge in the wee hours of Friday.

The police were apparently tipped off about a man attempting suicide in the creek. 

The Hindu quoted a person identified just as Gaikwad, presumably a traffic police officer, as saying, “He was crying. He seemed frustrated and depressed.

"We took him to the police chowky, offered him water and asked his problem, to which he said he was frustrated with the #MeToo allegations on him.

"He was depressed due to the defamation he and his family faced. He and nine other partners had founded KWAN and after four girls accused him of harassment in #MeToo campaign, he was asked to resign." 

Senior police inspector Anil Deshmukh, however, said Anirban Das Blah had not come to kill himself but had gone for a walk on the bridge. “The traffic police handed him over to us, but we haven't charged him as he has not done any [suicidal] act. He told us he had come for a walk at the bridge. After his family arrived, we handed him over to them,” the officer said.

Three actresses and one model had anonymously accused Anirban Das Blah of sexual harassment.
