One might be forgiven to think that stockbrokers spend a lot of time partying after watching the songs so far from Baazaar. The film, directed by Gauravv K Chawla, is based on the murky side of the stockbroking firms in Mumbai. The second song from the film 'La La La' certainly looks at the glamorous part of it, with Rohan Mehra and Radhika Apte's romance taking most of the time.
The song seems to set the tempo of the romance that blooms between the ambitious newcomer, Rizwan Ahmed (Rohan Mehra) and Priya Malhotra (Radhika Apte) in the stockbroking firm. As they party together, and spend time, they inevitably fall for each other. However, the song's visuals also seem to suggest that Saif Ali Khan's Shakun Kothari is set to play the devil in this love story.
Composed, written and sung by Bilal Saeed, the song is a catchy and peppy EDM based track. While catchy, the song's composition and style certainly has a very familiar ring. The signature moment, when the beat drops, has a particularly strong resemblance to the chartbuster by Ed Sheeran, Shape of You. Although Saeed adds a flourish to extend the moment beyond the beat, carrying it into the 'La La La' chorus.
Saeed and Neha Kakkar team up well, and the stylish rendition adds a dimension to the song. The completely Punjabi lyrics lend authenticity to the song's portrayal of itself as a 'club song'.
Baazaar is set to be released on 26 October 2018.
