Here's why Jimmy Sheirgill returned to star in Radha Kyon Gori Main Kyun Kaala

The Phamous (2018) actor had quit the film earlier due to non-availability of dates and actor Arjun Rampal was supposed to have joined the project instead.

Back in September, it was reported that actor Arjun Rampal had replaced Jimmy Sheirgill in Iulia Vantur’s maiden Hindi film Radha Kyon Gori Main Kyon Kaala.

In an interview with Cinestaan.com, producer Prernaa Arora, of Studio Five Elements, had confirmed that non-availability of dates had forced Sheirgill to quit the film. The makers had then approached Rampal in principle to take up director Premi Soni’s film.

The poster of Radha Kyon Gori Main Kyun Kaala was unveiled last evening (15 October) and it was a surprise to see Sheirgill introduced as the male lead.

Neither director Soni, nor the producers at Studio Five Elements, have spoken on the sudden change in the cast.

Speaking to Cinestaan.com, Soni said, “Jimmy is doing our film. It’s an extremely happy moment for me to have him. He is one of the most wonderful actors we have today. I have been wanting to work with him for a long time. My dream is coming true. I am really looking forward to this association.”

While Soni was tight-lipped on the reasons of Sheirgill's return to the project, a source close to the film explained, “There were date issues with Jimmy and he couldn’t take up the film earlier. Arjun Rampal had initially agreed to do the film, however, the producers and the actor couldn’t agree on a budget [Rampal’s fee]. So, Rampal opted out. He still shares a cordial relationship with the producers. Sheirgill was approached again and he was willing to be flexible with his dates now.”

Radha Kyon Gori Main Kyun Kaala tells the story of Julia (Iulia Vantur), a Polish national, who is raped on her visit to India. The film is reportedly based on true incidents. One of the incidents is said to be the rape and exploitation of a tourist at the hands of an Indian Bank official in Mathura in 2017.

The film will go on floors in November, with the makers targeting a late summer release in 2019.
