Sajid Khan quit Housefull 4, the fourth film in the popular franchise, after serious accusations of sexual harassment were levelled against him by at least three women.
He has now been replaced by Farhad Samji, one half of the writer-director duo Sajid-Farhad, who had directed Housefull 3.
Farhad Samji confirmed to Cinestaan.com in a telephone conversation that he will be taking over the film's reins. “Yes, I will be directing the film,” he said.
Writers Sajid Samji and Farhad Samji have been working as a team for more than a decade. They have to their credit hits like Golmaal Returns (2008), Ready (2011), Singham (2011), Chennai Express (2013) and Singham Returns (2014). They turned directors with the Akshay Kumar-starrer Entertainment (2014) and then directed Housefull 3 (2016).
Housefull 4 will be the first project where they won’t be working as a team and Farhad alone will be directing it.
The first two movies in the Housefull franchise were directed by Sajid Khan, but he was then replaced for the third film.
Housefull 4 is said to be the first reincarnation comedy in Hindi cinema. It stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda and Pooja Hegde. The film will be released in 3D.
