Filmmaker Farah Khan has finally reacted to the grave allegations of sexual harassment against her brother, filmmaker and TV show host Sajid Khan.

On her official Twitter page, Farah Khan wrote, “This is a heartbreaking time for my family. We have to work through some very difficult issues. If my brother has behaved in this manner he has a lot to atone for. I don’t in any way endorse this behaviour and stand in solidarity with any woman who has been hurt.”

Farah and Sajid Khan’s cousin, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who has always taken a bold stand on women's safety and runs an organization to help with the subject, has also come out in the open against Sajid Khan.

“I cannot adequately stress how shocked, disappointed and heartbroken I am to read the stories about Sajid’s behaviour," Farhan Akhtar wrote. "I don’t know how but he will have to find a way to atone for his alleged actions.”

Earlier in the day, actor Akshay Kumar announced that he is stopping the shooting of Housefull 4, which is being directed by Sajid Khan.

Soon thereafter, Sajid Khan decided to step down as the film's director.

The allegations against Sajid Khan were made by Saloni Chopra, who had worked with him as an assistant director. Journalist Karishma Upadhyay validated her claim by stating how Sajid Khan exposed himself in front of her and allegedly tried to kiss her.

Thereafter, actress Rachel White also accused Sajid Khan of asking her to strip and seduce him.

There is more to the issue, however. Before the release of Sajid Khan’s previous film Humshakals (2014), there was tension and conflict between him and the film's lead actress Bipasha Basu. The result was that Basu refused to promote the film.

Sajid Khan, on the other hand, criticized her in front of the media. Basu's latest cryptic tweet hints at her falling out with the director.

Replying to a tweet asking her to expose the ‘one,’ Basu replied, “I was told by all not to say anything to him and stoop to his level — so I quietly finished my work as a professional and explained my stance to the producers .. that I couldn't associate myself with this film anymore as I could lose my temper any moment.”
