Chinmayi Sripaada calls out Cheat India director Soumik Sen for inappropriate behaviour

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada has been among the leading voices of the growing number of women on social media calling out men on their inappropriate actions. The singer has now called out director Soumik Sen for his inappropriate behaviour with a journalist. 

Sripaada shared an anonymous message, evidently from the female journalist, outlining her experience with Sen, when she had gone to interview him. 

In the message, the complainant suggests that on her arrival at Sen's home, he spoke to her in an inappropriate manner.

Incidentally, Sen had directed Gulaab Gang (2014), a feminist drama starring Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla. The journalist mentions the film as one of the reasons why she chose to interview Sen at his home in Santa Cruz, Mumbai. 

From asking about her interests in 'porn' to asking her to be his muse, the victim alleged that Sen's behaviour put her at great discomfort. So much so that she had to put her foot down at his behaviour.

"I told him to stick to the topic and then he said that he wants to make a film before the one he offered me which was a biopic on Kishore Kumar. I randomly asked him if I can train as an AD [assistant director] on set by assisting him on that film, and replied saying, "You can, but you have to kiss me everyday." I said no, that's not happening. He replied saying, "It will. One day maybe in later future you will die to kiss me and come to me." 

The revelation comes on the same day as the lead actor of Cheat India, Emraan Hashmi, announced the inclusion of anti-sexual harassment clauses in the contracts of the films produced by his company. 

Sen is currently working on two projects, Cheat India featuring Emraan Hashmi, and a Bengali film, Mahalaya, featuring Jisshu Sengupta and Subhashish Mukherjee.

Sripaada was among the key voices who accused lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual misconduct. Since the beginning of the #MeToo movement on social media, the singer has been sharing several anonymous complaints of victims and calling out the alleged perpetrators.
