Actress Urmila Matondkar has ventured into Marathi film production along with her husband Mohsin Akhtar. The first film under their banner Mumbapuri Productions is titled Madhuri. The film is directed by Swapna Waghmare Joshi, whose film Savita Damodar Paranjpe was released earlier this year. Produced by John Abraham, it featured Subodh Bhave and Trupti Toradmal.
But the cast of Madhuri has been kept under wraps along with other details. The makers have released a title video where a woman is seen singing in front of an audience in an intimate space. The video and the music that goes with it indicates that the film is a musical saga.
The tagline of the film ‘Vay Vicharu Naka’ [Don’t ask the age]. This hints that the film might deal with a character who achieves something after the "right age" defined by the society.
Apart from Savita Damodar Paranjpe, Joshi has made films like Mitwaa (2015), Laal Ishq (2016), Fugay (2017) and Tula Kalnnaar Nahi (2017). She has also directed Himesh Reshammiya-starrer Hindi film Damadamm! (2011) and the hit Hindi television series Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
Matondkar has acted in a Marathi film titled Ajoba (2014). Directed by Sujay Sunil Dahake, the film dealt with the disappearance of a leopard.
