Screenwriter-lyricist Varun Grover is the latest personality to be accused of misbheaviour by a woman on social media in the wake of the growing #MeToo movement. Grover, though, 'categorically denied' the allegations but maintained that he is willing to undergo an investigation to have his name cleared.
The post shared on Twitter by Harnidh Kaur, accused Grover of approaching the victim under the guise of friendship before misbehaving with her.

However, in the wake of the accusations, Grover denied the allegations calling it 'misleading and defamatory'.
I completely, totally, categorically deny all the allegations being made. The screenshot in question is untrue, misleading, and defamatory to say the least. Issuing a detailed statement soon.

In a statement which followed, the Sacred Games writer marked down several points in his defense, as well as stating that he is 'willing to cooperate and clear my name.'
Here's my detailed statement about the completely fabricated, misleading, and defamatory allegations against me. Am absolutely willing to cooperate and clear my name. Let's not allow such agenda-driven tactics to derail this movement please. pic.twitter.com/VTFeIjygcl

Several members of the film fraternity stepped up in support of Grover, although they all maintained that the accusation needs to be investigated.
What if #VarunGrover is telling the truth? What if there is a larger, more sinister plot to silence influential voices in the #MeToo movement? All claims must be investigated. @varungrover should complain to the police & trace the origin of these messages. @PedestrianPoet https://t.co/yAlA1PP19q

"Keep #MeToo alive and don't let such stray cases hamper your spirit," says @varungrover - one of the most solid people I have gotten to know in the Indian film industry. And I believe him. https://t.co/piOV9m7QQb

I have known Varun for a long time and it is very hard to believe any of such allegation on Varun. I believe in #VarunGrover. A genuine movement is just taking birth, Lets not sabotaged it by any agendas whatsoever. https://t.co/3hwxYuitPC
